Design study of an optical cavity for a future photon-collider at ILC
نویسنده
چکیده
Hard photons well above 100GeV have to be generated in a future photon-collider which essentially will be based on the infrastructure of the planned International Linear Collider (ILC). The energy of near-infrared laser photons will be boosted by Compton backscattering against a high energy relativistic electron beam. For high effectiveness, a very powerful lasersystem is required that exceeds todays state-ofthe-art capabilities. In this paper a design of an auxiliary passive cavity is discussed that resonantly enhances the peak-power of the laser. The properties and prospects of such a cavity are addressed on the basis of the specifications for the European TeV Energy Superconducting Linear Accelerator (TESLA) proposal. Those of the ILC are expected to be similar.

This paper is the second part of my overview on photon colliders given at the conference " The photon: its first hundred years and the future " (PHOTON2005 + PLC2005). The first paper [1] describes the first 25 years of the history and evolution of photon colliders. The present paper considers the photon collider at the ILC: possible parameters, technical problems and present status.

In this report, I provide an overview of the technical (and some political) aspects of the Photon Linear Collider (PLC). The physics program at the PLC is discussed in K. Mönig’s talk at this conference [1]. The photon collider based on the conversion of electrons at a linear collider to high-energy photons through Compton scattering of laser photons has been discussed and developed since early...

متن کاملILC Reference Design Report – Accelerator Executive Summary
The International Linear Collider (ILC) is a 200-500 GeV center-of-mass highluminosity linear electron-positron collider, based on 1.3 GHz superconducting radiofrequency (SCRF) accelerating cavities. The use of the SCRF technology was recommended by the International Technology Recommendation Panel (ITRP) in August 2004 [1], and shortly thereafter endorsed by the International Committee for Fut...
متن کاملThe Layout of the photon collider at the ILC ∗
One of the interaction regions at the linear colliders should be compatible both with e + e − and γγ,γe modes of operation. In this paper, the differences in requirements and possible design solutions are discussed. The photon collider (γγ, γe) is being considered as an " option " in the International Linear Collider (ILC) project [1–3], while e + e − collisions are " baseline ". In reality, th...
